Health and Well Being Programme

As part of our Health and Well being Programme there will be several activities in Clonoe Community Centre over the next few months and we hope to introduce additional ones.

 

KiDzYoGa.MoVe

Yoga & Movement Classes for children will commence on Thursday February 6th with ages 4-6 from 2.30-3.30pm and ages 6-8 from 3.30-4.30pm with numbers limited to 8 per class. Classes combine primarily yoga, some age appropriate gymnastics such as core conditioning and acro-balance skills. Each class will begin with a short meditation and finish with some relaxation.  £20 per child for the 4 weeks which must be paid in full on 1st day of registration. Serenity Yoga

Yoga with Bernie (YFNI approved tutor 02887740601/07749845339) continues on Wednesdays starting at 7pm. These are gentle Hatha Yoga classes with exercises to stretch and flex the body; develop breath awareness; relaxation and sometimes meditation. Yoga is an ancient practice of postures, breathing, visualisation and meditation to promote good health and inner peace. Practising Yoga will help you attain balance in body, mind and spirit. The main purpose of Yoga is to still the mind. It can teach gentle control and use of the breath to raise energy levels while maintaining calm and inner peace.

 

Healthy cooking workshops

Do you want to learn how to cook simple, healthy and nutritious meals and treats?

Kelly from The Klean Kitchen will be facilitating some workshops in Clonoe Community Centre preparing healthy, nutritious meals using some of the Klean Kitchen’s popular recipes. Kelly will also be on hand to offer tips and advice on nutrition and healthy eating.

These will be held on Thursdays in February 6.45pm – 9pm starting from February 6th.
This is funded under the NIHE Building Stronger Communities Fund and free of charge to participants with limited spaces available. Weightwatchers

Tae-kwondo

Tiger cubs and Tae-kwondo has now changed to Thursday nights instead of Friday with new members welcome. Tiger cubs commence at 5.30pm and Tae-kwondo at 6.30pm.

Dance

Feetbeat Dance which is in the capable hands of two experienced dance instructors, recommences on Thursday 7th from 7pm for juniors- Beginner kids (4-15years) 7-8pm, Advanced kids 8-9pm and Monday 4th from 8pm for seniors- Beginner adults (16+) 8-9pm, Advanced 9-10:30pm. Feet beat dance offers numerous classes to cater for all ages, solos, partners and teams. Specialising in modern linedance, Cha-Cha, hip-hop, funky, Polka, Waltz and much more!!

The O’Neill Academy of Irish Dance has classes on Mondays from 5.30pm. Classes are for boys and girls aged 4 and upwards both in solo and figure dancing, from beginner to open level.

New members always welcome to both groups, drop into classes to discuss.

 

Courses

In conjunction with South West College, we hope to run a week of classes in early March – these include Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Fast track Essential Skills – Literacy (ICT and Numeracy if sufficient demand) and Defibrillator Training. These will all be FREE. If you are interested please get in touch indicating which class(es) and whether daytime/evening time suits best.

South West College SUSE – Step Up To Sustainable Employment commence another round of 12 week courses – Barista, Care, Construction, Business Admin, Welding and Catering and will be holding an information session in the Community Centre in the coming weeks.

Free Ipad/Tablet Workshops in Clonoe Community Centre

There will be some facilitated 1-2-1 eclinic workshops on Wednesdays – January 22nd and 29th (daytime). These sessions are free and will be based on improving your iPad/Tablet usage and you can get help with your mobile device, general IT assistance and information.

This is funded under the NIHE Building Stronger Communities Fund and free of charge to participants!

 

Arts Workshops

 There will be a series of free workshops commencing on Wednesday 22nd January from 7.30pm with artist Shauna McCann and there will be a variety of mediums sampled such as mosaic, clay, pottery, tiffany glass etc. Play Resource with funding from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and in partnership with Libraries NI is delivering this programme of workshops exploring the theme ‘Meet Me’.

More Art Workshops are now planned from Spring with a series of weekend family art workshops -dates to be confirmed. This will be toddler in the morning followed by p1-p3 in the afternoon. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to come along with children and get creative and we will be doing this throughout the year based round seasons/occasions- Spring, Summer, Autumn/Halloween and Winter/Christmas. All materials will be provided. There will be adult and young people painting workshops, card making and family tree craft with dates and more information to follow.

 

Photography Workshops
There will be two digital workshops looking at getting the best out of your smartphones/iPhones on Tuesday 21st April and iPads/tablets photography on Tuesday 12th May. There are workshops booked for teens/young people in the autumn and keep an eye on our notes for the dates. The tutor for these classes will be Catriona Corrigan, Divine Photography. Party News

Clonoe Community Centre is available for party, function and conference bookings and we can provide catering options for any of these events. Children’s birthday party packages with combined 3G/Indoor Hall and food are available as well as several other options. We now are able to host parties with bouncy castles.
